I read a big article in the Sunday Trib. a few weeks ago about the lady that took over as the director of Chicago's Animal Care & Control department. She is trying to get people to come to the pound to adopt & actually rescue the animals instead of the animals being euthanized (which is the case for the vast majority of the animals that come in for various reasons–some are not allowed to be adopted if they're not suitable pets or if they have severe injuries). From what the article said, people tend not to go to the pound because they think the animals are diseased and no good, but I can tell you that Pussy Galore was a stray from the skumbag streets of Baltimore and she's the greatest cat ever! Plus, it's very cheap to adopt through the pound, they even put the micro chip in for you. Yea!!!
