Something new to the world of Leisurama (that is, our house here in Kittenfactory, Michigan) ... an Orchid. I have always wanted one, but am far too cheap to spend $30 on a houseplant I, or any four-legged domestic critter living with me, would surely kill. How could I justify the expense this time?? I didn't have to - I found an ebay seller that mails two plants for under $5.00. I already had the pots, and the moss to grow them in was under $6. Wish me luck. The photo posted is what is SUPPOSED to happen if I take good care of them. Go team.

I want an update on those orchids and I'll help you take care of them via the Web... like, maybe you could put a Web cam on them or something... you should see my orchids, donated by people who spoiled them rotten and forgot about them later. I accept all forms of plant material in any condition and will bring them back to life if there's any hope at all. Here's a little advice to get you started: do not over water, allow them to get cold once in awhile and that will make the orchid "shoot" flowers (when they don't shoot, that's when people think they're dead - but this is not a sign of death. Not every orchid plant can reproduce consistently - give it time), and as with all flowering plants give it lots of light, preferably sunlight. Goodluck new "orchid-mama"!
